The Grounds

The grounds of this country home are one of its proudest features: a full 10.2 acres, it offers a 5-acre wooded parcel, two lawns, and three pastures.  There are numerous walnut trees, fruit trees, and maples throughout the property, all adding allure and peace.  Perhaps one of the best features of the grounds is the barn and lawn surrounding it: both have been carefully nurtured and maintained over the last 30 years.  Behind the barn is a small grove, featuring the various fruit trees (pear, apple, and cherry) and a majestic stone table made of a large sandstone tablet and cylinder shaped concrete base.  The beauty of the grove has been admired by many, as the family has hosted a wedding and numerous other family functions.

An attractive flagstone (Medina Sandstone) patio is attached to the rear of the Florida Room, and features a sandstone tablet table on concrete cylinder base. Just off the patio is a small pond with a timed pump.

The barn, built in 1885, is large and open, a full 30’x70’ measure, and is suitable for either animals or storage. It is a two story barn with a concrete 1st floor. In particular interest to buyers will be the remodel of the second floor, which, with its plywood decking throughout, is strong enough to house even a boat. Its second floor 12' sliding door provides easy access, too: simply drive up the easy slope that leads directly to it.  The concrete foundation, doors, windows, and latches of the barn have been maintained.  The barn roof is in need of new shingles.

The grounds of this home also contain a workshop that is in close proximity to the main barn. The workshop is 16’ x 24' and has a new roof and concrete floor.

The driveway is one of the home’s finest features: it is a full 20’x100’ colored, stamped concrete: it is functional for snow removal, and an attractive and grand entrance to the home.

The roof of the home is new, and was completed in the summer of 2010. It features 50-year warranty shingles.

Finally, the entrance to the home has been reconfigured to make it handicap accessible, while still maintaining the integrity of the original design.
